Almost every family has a beautiful Christmas tree during the holiday season. Kids as well as adults enjoy decorating the tree and do it with a huge joy and creativity. When my eight-year-old niece asked me to tell her some interesting things about Christmas tree, I didn’t have lots of really interesting things to tell, so I decided to do a little research and found out incredible facts about Christmas trees. These facts will be interesting not only for your kids, but for you as well. I’m pretty sure that most of the things I’m going to speak about you don’t know and they will be absolutely new for you. Without further ado, here is my list of 15 interesting facts about Christmas trees.

1. The first decorated tree

The first decorated Christmas tree was in Riga, in 1510. Since then people from all over the world decorate the Christmas tree every year. While some people don’t like a Christmas tree, I can’t imagine the holiday without a beautiful spruce.

2. Growing

Did you know that it takes more than 15 years to grow a live Christmas tree? Sure, it’s a sad fact, but can you imagine your house and your holiday without a festive Christmas tree? I can’t, so I’m going to visit one of the best Christmas markets and buy the most beautiful tree.

3. The first sale

The sale of the first Christmas tree started in 1850, in America. Nowadays, it’s possible to buy any Christmas tree in almost every city in the world.

4. The Norway spruce

The Norway spruce is the most traditional Christmas tree. However, it doesn’t stay the same due to the cold temperature during the Christmas season.

Every year more than 3 billion artificial Christmas trees are sold in the United States and UK. This is a true fact and I was really astonished when I found out this information, since I know lots of people who are against Christmas trees.

I can’t tell whether you know this fact or not, but I know that many people, including me, didn’t know it. I’m sure you’ve noticed that some malls, especially in the United States, hang Christmas trees upside down. Why do they do this? They do this in order to save on the space. Great idea!

No Christmas is complete without a wonderfully decorated tree. It’s our tradition to decorate spruce or fir tree on Christmas and I don’t understand those people, especially families with kids, who refuse to have a Christmas tree.
