5 Things You Should Stop Taking for Granted in Your 20s

Now that I am older, I look back and realize that there were things that I took for granted when I was younger. As I grow older, I do not want to look back again and see things that I should not have taken for granted and be regretful. If you are still in your 20s, take my advice and stop taking these five things for granted. You will miss out on some really great things if you do not stop.

1. Your youth

Have you ever heard that the older you get, the faster time goes? It is true! One day you will look back and see this truth. Do not take your youth for granted. Spend time doing things people your age do. This time in your life will never be again.

2. Your experiences

Now is the time to experience all that you can. Do not wait for a better time, because it might not ever come. Do take advantage of every opportunity to experience life-changing events whenever you can. If you can travel, do it. If you can’t travel, find experiences close to home.

3. Breathing

This might seem silly, but breathing is something everyone takes for granted. Being alive is never something to take lightly. It is a gift that you can cherish when you take in deep, cleansing breaths and notice the scents you inhale.

Be appreciative of the breath you breathe daily. If you are healthy, be thankful. If your health is not the best, do what you can to get healthier. Life is too short not to.

4. Relationships

This one is a big deal. It is so easy to take for granted the ones closest to you. You are with them so often that it is easy to feel that they will always be there, but that is just not realistic. Take time each day to think and be thankful for the people you love and what it is about them you love. And, do not forget to tell them how you feel.

5. Dreams

Do not take your dreams for granted. As I have said before, this is the time to grab it and go with it. You may not ever have this time again. Do what you can now to reach your goals and dreams. Take classes, go on trips, learn and experience everything you can in order to move forward in those dreams. Do not look back.
