It’s so hard to break up a relationship especially when you’re together for a long time…
1. Relax
Maybe it’s just stress, maybe it was a bad time for a discussion, who knows… Take a minute to think if it’s really over or you just need time alone in peace, to relax and be who you were when you fall in love. A break up is not easy or pleasant.
2. Give him a clue
You don’t want to hurt him. And if you know he’s not gonna take it well, send him little clues that it’s not working anymore.
3. Explain
You must give him reasons why you don’t love him as much as you did. Maybe you can work things out, but if you can’t, he needs to know why.
4. Don’t blame
Most of the time when a relationship’s over it’s because you just grew apart. So there’s no need to find a victim; it’s not healthy to feel that way. I know for experience that sometimes you blame him and it’s easy for a guy (if it wasn’t his idea to break up) to take all the blame. “It’s not you, it’s me” doesn’t work either.
5. Be honest
I don’t want to sound like a cliche in this one but it’s true, you have to be honest with him and with yourself. Let him know that it’s over when you break up with him or either way he’s gonna think he still has a chance when he doesn’t. And you need to be honest with yourself, if it’s not good, it’s not good, you can’t fool yourself into believing it is.
6. Take time
Breathe and be sure it’s what you want. If it is, don’t let him change your mind if you don’t want to. I’ve seen this a lot with my friends, they are 100% sure they want out ’til they talk to the guy and he gets all emotional and you get emotional and then you regret not standing by what you wanted in the first place.
