7 Ways to Take Care of Your Hair during Pregnancy

If you want to have a beautiful and healthy hair during your pregnancy, these hair care tips are well worth following. When you are pregnant, your hair can behave in strange ways, and can be hard to cope with.

After delivery, it can be even more annoying to deal with your hair. Here are a few tips on how to take care of your hair during pregnancy.

1. Adapt to any changes

As I mentioned above, when you are pregnant your hair behaves in unusual ways. For instance, if you have curly hair, it can become straight.

It’s important to work with your hair and try to adapt to any changes. It will be much easier than trying to fight with it.

2. Dyeing

Do you color your hair? If so, it’s better to stop doing it. Although opinions vary on whether it’s ok to color your hair during pregnancy and many doctors say it is safe to color the hair after the first trimester, think of the easiest way to do it.

Most pregnant women use a natural color such as henna. You may also opt for it.

3. An easy style

When you are pregnant, you don’t have any energy to take care of your hair. And after your baby is born, you will not have much time to do it too! Think of a style that is really easy to care for.

I don’t tell you to cut your hair short since short styles need careful styling and require frequent maintenance cuts. If you don’t have energy or time for a trim, opt for a style that will not look a mess.

4. Use a deep treatment

During pregnancy, your hair also needs conditioner to keep it looking healthy and beautiful. You may want to use a deep treatment, but you should avoid hair care products which contain sodium lauryl sulphate and parabens. These ingredients may cause lots of problems.

5. Straightening

Treatments like the Brazilian blow dry, which can last for more than three months, sounds great, however you must be careful if you are pregnant. The thing is that these products are high in formaldehyde, which is a dangerous chemical. Love your curls, or at least try using straightening irons.

6. Relax

Your hair might be in wonderful condition during pregnancy. However, after your baby is born, you might begin to lose your lovely locks.

Don’t worry! This means your hair returns to its normal growth cycle. You should be ready for the possibility that you might shed lots of hair after delivery.

Make sure you eat enough protein during pregnancy to keep your hair healthy. Also, consider taking some vitamins, but talk to your doctor first.

When you’re pregnant, it’s quite difficult to care for your hair, but follow these tips which will help keep your hair looking gorgeous, glossy and healthy.
