If you are highly superstitious, the thought of Friday the 13th can make you stay home and do nothing until Saturday comes. You may think this day is full of misfortune and problems and you should avoid starting any project work and doing any important things. Don’t get me wrong, but it’s ridiculous. Friday the 13th is not as frightful as many of us believe. This day is no different than any other day. There are many people who start their businesses, get married and do anything they wish on Friday 13th, and they are successful, happy and wealthy.
The problem is your mind
You believe that this day is unlucky and it becomes unlucky. You believe something bad will happen today and it will happen because you expect it. You just have bad thoughts, and bad things happen to you. Try to focus on good and positive things, and you will see that Friday the 13th is actually a happy day. Any day can be unlucky when you focus on negative things.
If you suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia (the fear of Friday the 13th), that’s another thing. But try to think that today is a usual day, when you should accomplish many tasks, spend time with family or friends, check your emails and watch your favorite TV show. Don’t stay home alone, make sure you have someone to talk to all day long. Go for a walk or exercise to rid your mind of negative thoughts.
Some of my friends are so afraid of Friday the 13th that they avoid their usual daily routines. No, they don’t suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia. They just think that if all people fear this day, they should too. I don’t think it’s a good excuse to skip workout or work.

The number 13 is a lucky number
The number 13 is a lucky number for Colgate University, and Friday the 13th is considered a lucky day here. The university was founded by 13 men with $13 and 13 prayers. Probably this is a reason why they think the number 13 is lucky. In my opinion, 13 can be a truly lucky number. When you’re planning to do something connecting with the number 13, you simply need to stay positive.
I would be lying if I said I hadn’t experienced the fear of Friday the 13, but it was at school when all children believe in the mysterious power of the number 13 and a bad luck of Friday the 13th. Nowadays I’m not afraid of this day, I actually love this day and look forward to it, because I want to prove myself and everyone that this is a usual day. My mom was born on Friday the 13th. She is a positive and happy person and she loves the number 13 and Friday 13, so maybe that’s the reason I love it too. My mom is a happy wife, mom of three kids, and a successful manager. She says that she has never believed in any curses and superstitions, and she enjoys every single day to the fullest without exceptions. Moreover, we have a lovely black cat; I found him near a bus stop in cold winter. He brings a lot of joy and happy moments to our family, so I don’t understand those people who hate black cats.
Speaking about black cats, most of us believe that if a black cat crosses our path, it’s bad luck. Believe it or not, but when any cat, including black one, crosses my path, I have a successful day, or at least nothing happens to me. Maybe it’s because I love cats. I believe cats – be they white or blacks – have powerful healing abilities. Black cats are even better.
