As winter is coming to an end and spring is just around the corner, it’s time to start preparing your skin for warmer weather. After enduring harsh winter weather, you want your skin to be smooth, silky, and radiant.
There is just nothing worse than lifeless and pale skin that makes you look older than you are. To avoid it, follow seven small tips for preparing your skin for the spring season.
1. Get rid of the old skin cells
The first important thing you should do to prep your skin for spring is to exfoliate it. While it’s necessary to exfoliate skin all year round, most women don’t do it during cold winter months. If you are one of them, now it’s time to get rid of those old skin cells.
Grab a sugar scrub or try making one yourself with some abrasive ingredients such as pure sugar or baking powder. Mix in with your body wash and rub off all your dead skin cells. However, make sure you don’t overdo it. You need to remove the dead skin cell layer, not all of the layers, remember it.

2. Wake your skin up
After exfoliation, it’s time to wake your skin up. Start with buying a body wash that’s perfect for your skin type and that contains essential moisturizing nutrients. Nowadays, there are plenty of body washes and soaps that come in different types of refreshing invigorating scents that your skin, as well as your nose, will certainly like.
Moreover, some of them contain extra ingredients that will help wake the skin up. You can also jazz up your favorite body wash by adding orange or lemon zest.
3. Moisturize
Well, you already exfoliate your skin and wake it up, the next step is moisturizing. Grab a thick lotion that contains cocoa butter or shea butter, and apply it right after a shower when your pores are still open. It’s a great way to keep your skin supple and moisturized.
4. Soak in the bath
This is my favorite way to prep my skin for spring and I’m sure you will like it too. Sprinkle a little bit of baking soda into a tub filled with warm water and add a cup or two of warm milk, of course, if you have it.
You can also add several drops of your favorite oil (I usually add lavender oil) and you’ll have an awesome bath fit for a queen. Pat skin dry with a soft towel and apply your moisturizer after soaking in the bath.
5. Seal in moisture
Sealing in moisture during the cold winter months will ensure that your skin is healthy and ready for spring. Keep a bottle of your favorite essential oil in a shower, and apply it to your skin once you shut off the water. Your skin will be soft and smooth in no time.
6. Be safe
Spring means a lot of sunlight so it’s important to be safe. Sunscreen and protections such as sunglasses, scarves, and hats are must-haves. If you want to get a fake tan, make sure you choose a trusted tanning salon. Stay away from those topical artificial tanners and their terrible ‘orange effect.’

7. Drink up
Although I often tell you to drink a lot of water every day, I want to remind you that water is essential for your body and especially for your skin. It helps clear up your skin and get rid of acne. The more water you drink, the healthier and brighter your skin will be, though it doesn’t mean you should drink every minute. 7-8 glasses of water per day will be enough.
