Winter is fully upon us, and many of us are trying to cope with dry and flaky skin. Fortunately, there are a few effective remedies for dry and scaly skin. Follow my tips and forget about snake-like or crocodile-like skin and enjoy glowing and healthy skin.
Besides, the remedies I’m going to talk about are a great addition to any skincare routine. Here are the 7 best remedies for dry and flaky skin you may want to try right now.
1. Proper hydration
Hydrating is one of the most effective remedies for dry, flaky skin. Moreover, keeping your body hydrated is extremely important for proper functioning. You should make sure you drink approximately 8-ounce glasses of pure water every day.

2. Delicate soaps
If you have dry, scaly skin, you need to use delicate soaps. Many people who suffer from dry, flaky skin avoid using soaps since they think soaps irritate the skin.
However, soaps can be a great remedy for scaly skin, if you choose them correctly. Opt for a moisturizing kind and avoid antibacterial soap. Antibacterial soaps contain an ingredient called Triclosan, which is harsh on the skin and destroys healthy skin cells.
3. Proper moisturizing
Proper moisturizing is amongst the best and most effective remedies for flaky skin. Although I usually use light and sweet-smelling body lotion, I know that it’s not a good option during the winter months.
Butter is great for moisturizing your skin in winter. I want to recommend a butter that contains shea or cocoa, or even both! Also, don’t forget about your lip balm.
4. Soft fabrics
Fluffy fabrics are probably my favorite remedy for flaky skin. Fabrics like silk, cashmere, and cotton are some of the best to wear during the cold winter months.
If you want to wear wool, then opt for boiled wool, which will give the illusion and feel of cotton. A simple change in your fabrics can help prevent flaky skin.

5. Well-balanced diet
This is a wonderful remedy for dry, flaky skin that most of us usually skip. Remember I told you to drink enough water every day? A healthy, well-balanced diet is also essential.
Eating foods that are low in fat and rich in oils helps balance out the skin and make it glow. Cooking with extra virgin olive oil or taking a fish oil pill helps this process too.
6. Layering
Layering is also amongst the most effective remedies for flaky skin. Even if the temperatures are in the single digits, most women still want to look gorgeous. It’s okay, but you should protect your skin.
Rather than wearing a pair of leggings, wear fleece leggings or just double up on the layers. Perhaps, it doesn’t seem cool, but nobody will actually notice.

7. Air drying
Finally, the last great remedy for flaky skin that I often use is air-drying. When I heard about it for the first time, I thought it was strange and not effective.
However, air-drying is great since it doesn’t clog the pores. Who doesn’t want to have healthy pores?
Now, you see that remedies for dry, flaky skin are incredibly simple and they really work. If you know some other remedies for flaky skin, please share them with me.
