There are many good reasons why a bicycle is better than a car, which might explain why you are seeing so many cyclists out this season. Biking has always been my favorite activity, and since I have no car and since I’m going to buy a brand new bike, I thought it would be great to share some of the amazing reasons why a bicycle is better than a car. Maybe you will trade your car for a bicycle too!
1. It’s much greener
Unquestionably one of the top reasons why a bike is better than a car is because a bike is much greener. It doesn’t leave any carbon footprint, it doesn’t give out CO2 emissions, and it’s generally better for our environment. Moreover, bikes don’t wear down the road, so they also are better from a tax paying standpoint.
2. You don’t have to worry about gas
If you have a bike, you will never have to worry about gas. You don’t have to worry about the cost of gas. All you have to do and worry about is to fuel your body the right way. That’s really a huge reason why a bike is better a car!
3. Parking is not a problem
Do you know that you can fit at least 10 bicycles in the average parking spot? You don’t have to drive up and down the parking garage or around the block, wasting gas and trying to find an empty space.
But make sure you have a really sturdy lock for your bicycle. And it’s better not to park your bike in an actual parking spot.
4. You get plenty of exercise
Honestly, girls, what kind of exercise do you do in your car? Sure, there are some good fitness techniques to use when you drive, but a bike doesn’t require anything special.
You are toning your butt, calves, and thighs, only by pedaling. I think fitness is a great benefit, plus it is really fun!
5. It’s much cheaper
A bike is also much cheaper than a car. Right, you can buy a great racing bike for thousands of dollars, but it is still much cheaper than a new car. Unless you are into mountain or racing biking, you can easily buy a bike for $100. So amazing, isn’t it?!
6. Bikes are more social
I like bicycles because they are much more social. I can stop riding and easily talk to my friends. And you cannot do that in your car, unless you pull off the road and stop. Usually if you are trying to talk to someone at a stop sign or a red light, it’s because someone is indulging in road rage.
7. Helmet is safer than insurance
You should still be safe when you ride your bicycle, but I’m sure you would agree that a helmet is more affordable than insurance. You cannot drive without insurance, right? And with a bicycle, the right safety precautions and your helmet are the best form of insurance.
Now you see, bikes certainly have their benefits. Sure, I like driving, but since I don’t have a car, I’m happy to bike when I need to. And what about you, do you enjoy biking? Please comment below!1
