Cleaning is something we all have to do, but not all of us enjoy it. There are ways that you can cut back on the time you spend cleaning. Here are 4 of those ways.
Table of contents:
1. Enlist the help of others
You’re not the hired help in your household. It’s important that everyone in the house contribute to keeping it running smoothly. Even if you are a stay-at-home mom, that doesn’t mean you have to pick up after everyone constantly.
Everyone needs to learn to pick up after themselves. It’s also good to have your children do chores because these are skills that will be needed once they are adults.
2. Create less to clean
Do you find yourself cleaning up things that shouldn’t even be there? Like that pile of old toys that no one plays with? What about those piles of books and papers that you keep moving from one spot to another?
Stop wasting your time with things that shouldn’t be there, to begin with. Get rid of all the clutter and you’ll instantly have less to clean.
3. Create a schedule
Schedules can come in very handy when it comes to cleaning, especially when other people are involved. It’s helpful to know who should be doing what and when. Creating a weekly schedule works quite well, but if everyone prefers to do the same chores, then you can create a monthly schedule.
You might prefer to do a bit of cleaning each day or dedicate one day a week to getting everything done. Do whatever works for you and your family.
4. Don’t let things pile up
Cleaning always seems like more of a chore when you let things pile up. If the sink is overflowing with dishes, you’re going to feel overwhelmed. If you wait two weeks to collect all of the newspapers from around the house, you’re going to be annoyed.
But if you pick up a little bit each day and do dishes before they pile up, you won’t feel as overwhelmed. It won’t seem so much like cleaning when you only have a little bit do to, instead of a huge job.
You don’t have to obsess about cleaning to have a clean home. It’s all about getting organized and being able to ask others for help.
