Dream Collage: Why and How You Should Make It

How many times have you been thinking about creating the vision board of your dreams? Perhaps, you think it’s a childish and foolish freak, right? Wrong.

A dream collage is the visualization of your goals and dreams and it works like your future photo album. There are dreams inside everyone of us and they are more likely to happen when put on a paper. Vision board always gives you a sense of direction and deliberateness.

I had always been skeptical about all kinds of symbols, but I noticed that it worked! Keep on reading to find out how you can benefit from a dream collage.

Burst of productivity

In order to succeed and make your dreams come true you should grasp the principles applied by successful people, and apply them to your life. Making a collage is one of the best and most efficient goal setting techniques.

Setting your goals on a paper will help you to focus your time and energy on these very points. It’s very effective to use a dream collage since you can design a picture of what you want.

When looking at all those clippings and drawing I’ve put on the paper, I realize clearly enough what and how I should do. Consequently, I am more productive and I achieve better results.

Inspiration

Dreams aren’t instantly accomplished and it takes time and effort to realize them. Once in a while we get disappointed at our failures and flops, especially if people around us aren’t going to support us.

Believe it or not, but the collection of the pictures on the wall is a real helper in this situation since it is meant to inspire, motivate and encourage. I look at my dream collage each time I feel down and it always makes me inspired and determined.

On the other hand, your dreams should be grounded in reality. When I was a child I wanted to become a model and I was just obsessed with this idea.

But I’m short and there is not much use dreaming of being a model. Instead I started working in a fashion magazine and I feel pretty good!

Entertainment

A dream collage is one of the most exciting and fascinating DIY projects! This is the area where you can use all your fantasies and creativity. When done stylish, a dream collage can serve as a unique complement to your interior.

Visual boards are never pretentious in terms of materials, so you can easily use improvised stuff and anything available. If you make up your mind to visualize your life, let’s clarify how you can do it and what you will need:

Recognize your dreams

Distinguishing my goals and dreams was the very first step I took when making my dream collage. I’d been sitting quietly for an hour thinking about my life, achievements and desires. This was a very important stage since I realized what future exactly I wanted.

I just put down everything that came to my mind, even the most ridiculous and boldest dreams. Eventually, I combined some ideas, which resulted in a good set of goals.

Don’t know what to start with? Think about where you want to go, what you want to become or what you want to get. All these are right questions.

Choose materials and perform the job

Vision boards are all about drawings, magazine clippings, cut words, fabrics, paints and, of course, your photo. I am sure you can find all this stuff at home. You will need scissors, glue stick, poster board and a heap of magazines to decorate the basis.

Choose one of your best photos and put it in the center of the composition. Your photo really matters, since it incorporates the emotions you want to feel in the future. I also used stripes and polka dot insets to jazz up the composition.

You should spend a considerable amount of time choosing magazine clipping and pictures; they should precisely reflect your wishes. Make sure you have included such vital categories like family, health, love, career, hobbies and friends to your visual board.

Live you dreams

When the board is ready, place it somewhere you can easily see it. I chose to put it by my bed side, so it’s the first thing I notice in the morning and the last thing I see before bed. But it’s not enough to create a dream collage and look at it from time to time.

You should believe in your dreams no matter what. When looking at every detail of your board you should imagine living, accomplishing and breathing your dreams.

Many years have passed since the first time I placed the dream board beside my bed and now I can actually cross off the half of all the things. They are not dreams any more, but my happy reality.

In conclusion I will say that if you can dream it you have enough strength and will to achieve it. A dream board is not a magic wand that will do the trick, but it’s a powerful tool, which is meant to help and support you. Do not give up, always do your best and remember that the best is yet to come.
