Table of contents:

  1. A fan
  2. Keep it cool
  3. Forget about your PJs
  4. Drink plenty of water
  5. A cool bath
  6. Don’t use a duvet
  7. Stick to your normal bedtime

1. A fan

While a fan is not powerful enough to lower the overall temperature, it can create a cross breeze that will be enough. However, if it is still hot, take a shallow container and fill it with ice. Place it directly in front of the fan, and you will have a makeshift air conditioner.

2. Keep it cool

Don’t open the curtains and blinds in the morning! Instead, prepare your bedroom for sleeping as soon as you get up in the morning. During the day, close curtains and blinds, but be sure to leave your door open.

In the evening open your windows to let a breeze pass through. It will be much cooler and you will easily get to sleep in hot weather.

3. Forget about your PJs

When it’s too hot, try wearing minimal clothing to bed. Even if your PJs are cute, they can make you sweat more when the temperature is too high! Many people avoid this way, but it’s one of the best ways that can really help you get to sleep in hot weather.

4. Drink plenty of water

When it’s hot be sure to add an extra few glasses of clear water. Keep in mind that being thirsty generally means that you’ve run out of water, that’s why you need to drink enough water before you go to bed! Dehydration is a very common thing when the temperature is too high. Moreover, it can leave you with body pains or a headache.

5. A cool bath

Before going to bed, try taking a cool shower or bath. This will reduce your body temperature and will make you much more likely to fall asleep. Plus, you will wash any pollen off, which can reduce the symptoms of hay fever.

6. Don’t use a duvet

Obviously, you shouldn’t use a duvet when it’s too hot. If you are used to sleeping under something, why not use a lightweight blanket or a sheet?

You will get the same covered-up feeling without the heat and heavyweight that your duvet brings. It’s better to opt for a 100% natural cotton sheet, as it absorbs sweat and also stays cool. Make sure your natural cotton sheet is a light color since black attracts heat.

7. Stick to your normal bedtime

This is one of the most important tips that can help you get to sleep in hot weather! Always stick to your normal bedtime! If you knock your body’s natural circadian rhythm, you could find it more difficult than ever to fall asleep.

Even if you find it difficult to sleep, try to stick to your regular bedtime routine! Don’t exercise before bedtime, since it can make it impossible to sleep when it’s hot.

Follow these tips and you will be a pro at falling asleep when the temperature is too high! If you still cannot fall asleep, try banning all electronics from your room, and using an eye mask to block out any light. Do you have any other tips? Share them, please.1
