Summer is among my favorite times of the year, since there are so many incredibly fun things to do over the summer, from visiting water parks to taking a spontaneous road trip. Get your sun hat and sunscreen ready and try a few of these activities you must do this summer!
1. Go to the beach
It may seem obvious, but this summer you should definitely go to the beach! There are plenty of fun things to do at the beach! But don’t just relax and soak in vitamin D, get a bit more adventurous and try boating or skim boarding for a good cardio exercise. The dunes are a great way to get exercise and see a wonderful view of the water at the same time.

2. Enjoy a visit to a water park
I must admit that water parks smell of chlorine and are busy, but there are some things much better than drifting in the lazy river or riding down a water slide on a hot summer’s days. This weekend enjoy a visit to your local water park!
3. Have a barbecue
Your backyard is the perfect place for barbecues! Bring your own dinner or try a bocce ball barbecue. There are plenty of ways to host backyard barbecues, which are incredibly fun. If you want to take your BBQ to the next level, you should definitely try an outdoor movie on the grass.
4. Visit theme parks
If you have the chance to go to theme parks over the summer with your children, family members or friends, do it. The lines may be insane, of course, but it will be worth it when you see how much fun your kids have. I always play some games on my phone, it helps me to stay calm while standing in line.
5. Go to a botanical garden
In many regions, the flowers go into bloom not only during the spring, but during the summer too. And what could be more relaxing than checking out exotic plant life or wandering through flowers in bloom? I like the Meijer Botanical Gardens, one of the largest botanical gardens that complete with a huge atrium, roses, and bogs.
6. Visit an art museum
You know summer is really hot and the museums are cool and air conditioned. Moreover, they have incredible art and many have limited-time exhibits during the summer. Look for some great museum deals, there are lots of them!
7. Fruit picking farms
Raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries are all in season over the summer. Sure, you can buy them at most stores, but picking your own produce is much more fun! One of the best parts of picking them yourself is that you’re getting them fresh. There are no half spoiled fruits in your basket and all the fruits are less expensive!
