7 Ways You Need to Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer

Are you looking for some really useful tips for making your nail polish last longer? You buy a great color of nail polish and three days later your nails are already chipped. Yes, I also hate that.

So are you ready to stop that chipping and make your nail polish stay on longer? Here are some tips I’ve tried and I know they work!

1. Clean them

One of the easiest and most important ways to make your nail polish last longer is simply to clean them. Natural oils and dirt on your nails aid in chipping. So make sure you remove old nail polish with acetone and wash your hands with warm water and soap to remove all the oils and dirt.

2. Store your polish in a cool place

Store your nail polish in the fridge and you’ll lengthen its shelf life. Also, don’t forget to keep your nail brushes and nail files perfectly clean.

Don’t shake the nail polish before applying it, since it will create air bubbles. Roll it between your hands, instead!

3. Use apple cider vinegar

I found this odd tip on Pinterest and decided to try it. I can surely say that it really works! Just take a cotton ball and dip it in apple cider vinegar, wipe over your unpainted nails, let dry and paint your nails as usual. This will help keep your nails polished for about two weeks.

4. Apply a base coat

To prepare your nails for polish, always apply a clear base coat. The base coat will provide a perfect surface for your nail polish to adhere to and will make your nails appear much smoother.

It will also let the polish stick better to your nails without staining them. Apply a base coat and let it dry for about 15 minutes.

5. Polish tips

When you polish your nails, paint the tips of them. Start at the base, then go up and over tips to help seal the color and prevent chipping. This will also give your nails a little bit more strength.

6. Never apply a thick layer

Make sure you apply a thin layer of nail polish because a thick layer will cause bubbles and ruin your polish. Always opt for thin layers. But, be sure to wait for each layer to dry well before you apply another coat.

It seems a tedious process, but it will make your nail polish last really long. For better results, brush your nail polish horizontally across the tips of your nails.

7. Opt for shimmering polish

There are some types of nail polish that contain shimmering glitter particles, which can help to adhere the polish to your nails. You may want to try a shimmery pink, mint green, or lilac shade to stay on trend this season.

I don’t know about you, but I love to change my nail polish color regularly. But with my busy schedule, I have to find all possible ways to make my nail polish stay on longer.

Luckily I know these tips! Hope they will help you too! Do you have any other tips to share? Let me know, please.1
