9 Ways to Relax During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a wonderful time, but it also brings hormonal and physical changes that can be stressful and demanding. Many women find it difficult to relax during pregnancy, especially if they have a busy schedule. Check out a few ways to relax during pregnancy!

Table of contents:

  1. Take a bubble bath
  2. Spend a day doing what you want to do
  3. Sleep in
  4. Go out to eat or order takeout
  5. Ask someone to help you out
  6. Sit in the sun
  7. Use paper plates
  8. Get a pedicure and foot massage
  9. Get a prenatal massage

1. Take a bubble bath

Taking relaxing bubble baths can really do the trick! Play some music and light a candle if it’ll help you de-stress and unwind even more! But make sure the water is not too warm. A pregnant woman has to keep her body temperature regulated for the safety and health of her baby inside.

2. Spend a day doing what you want to do

Your life will be much more different after your baby is born. You will not have so much free time for yourself as you have now. Why not take advantage of it now?

You are pregnant and you deserve a break! So don’t feel bad about spending a few days doing what you really want to do. It can be reading, crafting, shopping, or just laying on the sofa eating fruits and watching your favorite movies!

3. Sleep in

Take advantage of any opportunities to sleep now while you do not have your baby to keep track of! After your baby arrives, you will not have an opportunity to sleep when you want. A pregnant woman needs lots of rest, so there’s nothing wrong with sleeping in that hour or two during the day.

4. Go out to eat or order takeout

Even if you like to cook, sometimes you need a break, especially if you are pregnant! Going out to eat will save you from cooking and cleaning up. And if you don’t want to leave your house, you can order takeout! Cleaning up will be easier, and you can also ask your spouse to help you if you don’t want to do anything.

5. Ask someone to help you out

Grocery shopping, giving the dog a bath, dropping off the library books, picking up the dry cleaning, vacuuming your carpets, and washing can be easily done by someone else. Just ask your spouse, relative, or friend to help you out on those days when you feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s ok to be tired!

6. Sit in the sun

When pregnant it’s vital to get enough vitamin D, so go ahead, grab a good book and sit out in a lawn chair for an hour! But make sure you stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (between 11 am and 3 pm.) to avoid overexposure.

7. Use paper plates

This may seem small at first, but avoiding the dreaded household chore of washing dishes is one of the best ways to relax during pregnancy, especially if you have children already! I usually buy paper plates for those days when I’d prefer an easier cleanup or feel too tired to clean up.

8. Get a pedicure and foot massage

Getting a pedicure and foot massage is one of my favorite ways to relax during pregnancy! It’s difficult enough to reach your toes, so why not let someone do the work for you? A foot massage will feel good on your swollen feet, and you want pretty toenails for the summer, right?

9. Get a prenatal massage

Getting a prenatal massage is a wonderful way to de-stress and relax during pregnancy. Just don’t forget to tell your massage therapist that you are pregnant if you are not showing yet. Be sure to drink a lot of fluids, since the massage tends to flush impurities out of your system!
