1. Go outside

If you are feeling a little down, going outside for a while can help you feel much better. Some people say that the sun makes them feel really happy. And there are many studies that say that an hour a day of natural sunlight can work as a good antidepressant.

If it is a rainy or a cloudy day, go outside for at least a few minutes. Enjoy the rain and the sound of the raindrops! It will help you focus on something else than only your problems!

2. Look at some old pictures

Another best way to brighten your day is to look at some old pictures of your family, you, or even your friends. You may feel much better by remembering all the happy times since we usually take photos when we feel very happy and want to remember those moments forever.

If you want to be happy all the time, choose pictures that you like and put them somewhere you can easily see them as often as possible. You can even stick them to your mirror.

3. Do a good deed

On one of the days when you feel down do a good deed! Volunteer, for instance. Studies say that those who volunteer are happier than those who don’t.

Volunteering will bring you an extra dose of empathy, the quality that helps to appreciate all the positive things in life. Do a good deed and you will brighten not only your day but another person’s day too!

4. Exercise

No matter how upset you are, exercising will make you feel better. Exercising, will reduce your stress level, increase the quality of your sleep, and this can also help you increase your self-esteem. Take a long walk in the park or go to a gym and this will make you feel more energized.
