Summer Hair Care Tips for Strong and Healthy Hair

Summer Hair Care Tips
Summer is a great time for spending care-free days outside enjoying the warm weather. But with that come a whole host of elements that can wreak havoc on your hair.
That is the reason receiving a summer hair care routine is so important to the health of your strands. Luckily, there are few tricks and products you can use to beat the heat damage on your hair this season. Read on to discover the top summer hair care tips to keep your hairstyle this summer.

1. Get a trim

You should part with your overgrown ends before hitting the beach for ideal hair health. As hair grows out, split ends continue to split up the hair shaft. So a dusting off of the ends makes a huge difference, and the more breakage you cut off now, the less you’ll need to cut off later.

2. Use a UV protectant

Similarly, as we put sunscreen on our face and body to protect ourselves from the sun, our hair needs protection too. UVA and UVB rays don’t only cause damage, they also oxidize the hair, which means that your precious color could be a thing of the past in the event that you don’t take the right measures to defend it.

3. Shampoo every other day

As the days get hotter, it’s tempting to wash your hair every day. However, by doing just that, you are stripping your scalp and hair of much needed natural oils. Extend the time between washings by using a dry shampoo. Sprinkling the powder onto your scalp and working it in with your fingers will absorb grease.

4. Conditioning is key

Your hair gets just as thirsty in the hot summertime as you do. So why not treat it to a little moisture-rich refreshment? Using hair oil or serum on the ends will help restore parched locks. For added effect, use masks that will give a deeper level of moisture.

5. Use water first

It sounds counterintuitive, but dampening your hair with water from the tap before you step into the pool helps to protect it from the damaging impacts of chlorine. If your hair’s cuticle is already saturated with water, it will absorb significantly less of the pool’s chemicals than dry, porous hair alone. Also, you can take a conditioner for extra hydration.

6. Cover it up

If the sun is particularly harsh, or if your hair is particularly vulnerable, you can use a scarf or hat to shield your hair. If you wanted to pair a stylish hat or pretty scarf with your summer outfits, so now you have the perfect excuse to do so.

So go out and enjoy yourself this summer. But now you know how to beat the heat and keep your hair looking healthy and perfect all season long.1
