6 Ways to Notice New Things Daily

Our world is so beautiful and filled with wonder, but we often take that all for granted. I tend to notice things especially when the seasons change. In Colorado, we have four distinct seasons, so it is easy to notice new things in the world every day.

Spring is my favorite time of year, and I take notice of the leaves on the trees. I watch to see when I can see the buds or the tiny hint of leaves forming. It gives me a sense of renewal and hope for new things to come.

Noticing things daily can do that as well. Here are some unique ideas to help you take notice of new things daily.

1. Get your nose out of the cell phones

First off, you have to take your focus off your cell phone and direct it otherwise, so get your nose out of your text messages for just a little while. It only takes a couple of minutes to notice things.

2. Look at your current surroundings

You can notice new things no matter where you are. If you are at home, notice something new about the people you live with.

Did they change something about their appearance? Do they seem happier or more depressed than normal? Find out what is different about them.

3. Choose your target

My noticings mostly take place in nature. I tend to look at the mountains in my backyard every day and evening and notice how they have changed.

Is there more snow than before, etc? Just go outside your home.

Find something you want to take notice of on a daily basis as I do with the mountains. Then, make it a habit of looking every day to notice any changes.

4. Take a trip down memory lane

Maybe it is looking at old photos or driving by places you enjoyed as a kid. Whatever trips your memories, take a look at that from your perspective now and notice what has changed since you last really looked.

5. Make a conscious effort to notice things

You have to be aware of whether you are really paying attention to the details in your world or not. If you are not, then you have to make a conscious effort to make it a daily ritual to observe your world.

6. Allow yourself the experience of your noticings

Take notice of how you feel and what your thoughts are when you do notice changes. If they make you feel amazing, you will want to do it over and over again. If they bring up negative vibes, then avoid them, otherwise, experience all you can so that you’ll want to do it again.
