How to Make a Natural Mint Grapeseed Body Lotion

Mint grapeseed body lotion is a wonderful way to energize your body and rejuvenate your spirit. The uplifting scent puts a smile on your face, and the lotion leaves skin with a tingly glow that keeps you cool throughout the summer months.

Mint grapeseed body lotion also makes an excellent gift during the winter holidays. After all, what could be better than moisturizing winter skin while smelling as festive as a candy cane?

So what will you need, and how do you make mint grapeseed body lotion?

Ingredients – Natural mint grapeseed body lotion:

  1. 2 cups fresh mint (or ½ cup dried mint leaves)
  2. 2 cups water
  3. ¼ teaspoon borax
  4. 2 teaspoons coconut oil
  5. 1 cup grapeseed oil
  6. 2 teaspoons beeswax
  7. 6 drops of peppermint oil (adjusted to meet your preference)

Steps to create natural mint grapeseed body lotion

Step 1: Combine the mint leaves and water in a saucepan (non-aluminum). Bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer for about 5-10 minutes. Let cool. Pour the mint water into a bowl, straining out the mint leaves as you pour.

Step 2: Add the borax to the mint water, and stir until borax is dissolved.

Step 3: In a glass measuring cup, combine the coconut oil and grapeseed oil. Grate the beeswax into the blended oils. Set the glass measuring cup into a pan of shallow water, and heat the pan (on low) on the stove. This is a water bath, and will work to gently melt the beeswax into the oils. Heat until the beeswax is completely combined with the oil mixture.
If you have a double boiler, you can use that instead of the glass measuring cup and water bath.

Step 4: As the beeswax is melting, bring the mint-borax water to a boil.

Step 5: Slowly add the hot mint-borax water to the oil-beeswax mixture, and stir briskly. You can also whip the mixture together in a blender for a more even consistency.

Step 6: Allow your minty green lotion to cool. At first, the lotion will be a bit runny, but will thicken as it cools. Add the peppermint oil to the lotion once it is cool, and stir well.

Step 7: Once the lotion is completely cool, pour it into a clean, dry container. Store the closed container in a cool, dry place. This recipe will yield about 16 ounces of mint grapeseed body lotion. It can be made a few weeks in advance, and makes a great gift all year round!1
