Table of contents:

  1. Call a cheerleader
  2. Eat brain-boosting food
  3. Warm up your mind
  4. Rub deodorant on your palms
  5. Don’t over-practice
  6. Relax

1. Call a cheerleader

One of the things you should do before a job interview is to call a cheerleader. It can be your mom, your best friend, or your partner. Don’t spend time with people who make you nervous and discourage you.

Also, avoid people who make you feel uncomfortable. Spend your time with a person who can give you a boost at the last minute.

2. Eat brain-boosting food

It’s also important to eat food that will sustain you and will not leave your stomach growling. Don’t eat that glazed doughnut, I know it’s so tasty, but it won’t give you the energy you need throughout your day. Instead, eat brain-boosting food that combines carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Brain-boosting food includes nuts, fish, blueberries, legumes, and spinach.

3. Warm up your mind

By the time your interview begins you want to be on all cylinders. And if you have a job interview in the morning, you should warm up your mind. Solving the crossword or even Sudoku is one of the best ways to warm up your mind before the job interview.

4. Rub deodorant on your palms

If you get sweaty palms in stressful situations you should take along with you some unscented deodorant. Why is it so important? Have you ever noticed that sweating causes you to lose focus? Just rub some unscented deodorant on your palms and you will feel much more confident.

5. Don’t over-practice

Most people have a tendency to revise talking points on the way to an interview. However, it’s important to avoid over-practicing. You are not supposed to memorize all your answers, you should be genuine. That’s why put away those notes an hour before you walk into a job interview.

6. Relax

Before you enter the building where your job interview will take place, try to relax. Find a quiet place near the office and clear your mind of all thoughts. Go to a park, a library, or even a church. Get rid of stress and you will go to your job interview prepared and on point.

These are all things you should do before the job interview. Do you have something to add? Share your thoughts, please!1
