1. Take a time-out

If you are working on a difficult project and you feel yourself start to get stressed out take a few minutes and just have a time-out. Eat, rest, surf the web, read a book, or do whatever helps you unwind. It will be easier for you to accomplish your project!

2. Take a deep breath and count to 10

This is one of the best relaxation techniques that always seems to work! If you find that you’re getting stressed or frustrated out with something, you need to take a deep breath, count to 10 and tell yourself that everything will be ok. You could also take a few minutes to meditate and clear your mind.

3. Drink hot herbal tea

Herbal tea has much more benefits than only improving your health. It can relax and stimulate you at the same time! Stimulation is great because it energizes and refreshes you for the rest of the day. Moreover, hot herbal tea will help to soothe you and to lift heavy emotions or worries from your shoulders.

4. Hug someone

Hugging babies or little kids is perhaps the sweetest way to reduce your stress! If you do not have children, you can hug a relative or close friend. Studies have shown that hugging can help release large amounts of tension, so do not skimp on hugs anytime you are feeling overloaded!

5. Go and get yourself a massage

Getting a massage is one of the best tried and true relaxation techniques! If you have 30 minutes of free time, why not go and get yourself a massage? There are places that offer a 20-minute massage so you can get a massage during your lunch break. You may also want to devote an evening or a day to some self-pampering!

6. Listen to music

Music can help de-stress, revive, soothe, encourage, anger, or relax. It can make you cry or laugh, and it can boost your spirit or bring you down. If you are having a hard day, listen to your favorite music. Classical music will help calm your frazzled nerves.

7. Burn a scented candle

Burn just any candle you have. Buy candles that are made with essential oils and have aromatherapy. Scents can soothe and calm your brain, so choose something you like and burn one candle! Some perfect choices are lemon, lavender, orange blossom, peppermint, or vanilla.
