8 Signs of a Miserable Marriage

People say that being in a loveless marriage is a compromise. However, trying to be happy in a marriage without love is also a kind of compromise. Here are a few signs to know that a marriage is unhappy or failing.

1. Falling out of love

This is probably the most obvious sign of a miserable marriage. If one partner falls out of love, it will affect the other partner and the marriage overall.

The basis of marriage is love and care for each other. Without these factors, your marriage will not be happy.

2. Too much of expectations

Expectation is the major cause of miserable marriage. Many couples expect too much from their spouse, and, when they don’t get anything in return, there’s a crack in relationship.

Expectations of marriage must be realistic. This ensures a happy married life. If you expect things that break all boundaries, then it might be a miserable marriage.

3. Constant arguing and fighting

When you are constantly fighting with your partner, then your marriage can’t really survive. Marriage is based on understanding and trust. Arguments and fights can make matters even worse.

Anyone would feel suffocated being in such relationship. If one of the partners engages in regular and unnecessary arguments and fights, the marriage is miserable.

4. Lack of communication

Communication is probably the most significant element of a happy marriage. A lack of communication means there’s no compatibility between spouses and the marriage dies at an early stage. If you don’t speak to each other for a long time, it is a sign of a miserable marriage.

5. Lack of physical intimacy

Physical intimacy is necessary to maintain love and closeness in a marriage. If you are not intimate with each other, then you might have problems in trust and understanding. Many couples fall out of marriage because of this.

6. Separate activities

In a miserable marriage, husband and wife usually choose separate activities. They eat their food separately and sleep in different rooms. It’s a terrible thing.

Separate activities affect emotionally, and the couple would not feel happy. And this is one of the signs of a miserable marriage.

7. Lack of emotional bonding

Emotional bonding is significant for marriage. It gives a sense of assurance. A lack of emotional bonding in a relationship is another sign of unhappy marriage. There would be nobody to trust and one of the partners would then feel helpless and unhappy resulting in a broken marriage.

8. Ego hassles

This is the last sign of a miserable marriage. Most married couples fight because of ego hassles. They don’t surrender to each other. And it makes the situation more difficult and the marriage does not work out.

There are many people who feel unhappy in their marriage. But, it is not worth to spend your life miserable.
